Winemakers

Gareth King has been the vineyard manager for a few years now and is VERY carefull about his compost… and Mike Wolfenden (along with the head winemaker of course: Blair Walter) makes the wine and wants the wine to reflect what’s done in the vines. Both self-educated, they create Felton Road style today!!

Fun Fact

Felton Road is one the pioneers of the area (along with Rippon, Lake Wanaka) regarding biodynamic culture. All the wines are now Demeter certified every years. Mike, Assistant winemaker (who’s wearing a Burn Cottage tee –shirt this day) explained us how important it was for him to work the same way in the winery to respect the fruits of this beautiful work in the vineyard: movements of the wine only by gravity, French oak with very little percentage of new barrels, wild yeast only…

Tasting notes

A fruity white wine with tropical and stone fruits aromas. Very well balanced. Low in alcohol, it’s very sweet but the acidity is so high that the aromas come in the palate one after the other in a delicious order. Three sommeliers did the tasting… and all thought there were less 10g/L of residual sugar… There are 74!! This wine is incredibly elegant and vibrant!

Food Match

Chicken Thai Curry / Carrots / Coco

In general, sweet white wines are matching

well with spicy food!

Doesn't match

Try to avoid strong tasting and fat ingredients (anchovies, sardines, meat stew or grilled pork, eggs, cheeses…). They would mask the delicate taste of this wine!!
